■ Morning: After breakfast, take a car to Longji Terraced Fields. We will arrange [an exclusive photographer to accompany you]. Stroll through the fields and enjoy the scenery of the terraced fields. Go to [Ping’an Rice Terraces], climb [Jiulong Wuhu Viewing Platform], appreciate the beauty of the terraces’ lines, and experience the visual enjoyment brought by the changing seasons. After that, the vehicle will head to the <Longji Ancient Zhuang Village Scenic Area>, with <special vehicle access>. There will be ethnic song and dance performances, antiphonal singing of folk songs, bamboo dance interactions… The Zhuang people will greet you with simple smiles and present a high-standard <welcome ceremony>.

Lunch: We have specially arranged a “century-old house banquet” for you, where you can taste glutinous rice sweet wine, delicious mountain vegetables, mountain stream fish, mushroom bamboo tube chicken, and experience making colorful glutinous rice and oil tea with the Zhuang sister-in-law.

■ Afternoon: Visit the Ancient Zhuang Village Scenic Area, admire the Zhuang stilted wooden building complex on both sides, and overlook the beautiful terraced fields; [Visit a Centennial Ancient House], chatting with Zhuang villagers about the vicissitudes of time in Longji. The villagers in the Longji Ancient Zhuang Village are almost self-sufficient in food, preserving the original flavors of local native ingredients as much as possible. Five-color glutinous rice is a local specialty. The colors of the ingredients are derived from natural plant pigments, making it not only visually appealing but also more delicious. Bamboo tube chicken, on the other hand, is another local specialty. Marinated chicken, accompanied by seasonal vegetables and glutinous rice, is placed into split bamboo tubes and grilled over charcoal for an hour. The surface of the grilled bamboo tube chicken is covered with ash, but once opened, it reveals a whole new “world.” The tender and smooth chicken, combined with the fresh aroma of bamboo, seeps into the internal organs through the lips and teeth, making it a must-try dish when visiting Longji.

Admire the natural grandeur of the “Crown of the Terraced Fields World” and experience the ethnic minority customs in the ancient stockaded village. The Zhuang ethnic minority is one of the ethnic groups that early created rice cultivation culture in China. Most of the terraced fields in Longji are narrow and long plots stretching along contour lines, resembling long snakes winding around the mountainsides. Due to the narrowness of the fields, the villagers developed a special farming method – “cooperative plowing”. The structure and shape of the plows and rakes used are the same as those pulled by oxen on their backs, except that the ox-drawn method is replaced by human carrying on the back. Hundreds of years of labor on the high mountain terraced fields have created the majestic, continuous terraced field landscape of Longji, which is a typical representative of Zhuang ethnic minority terraced fields.

We will visit the unique three-story stilted wooden structure buildings of the Zhuang ethnic group, chat with the elderly Zhuang people on the creaking wooden floors, and learn about the history of the ancient houses and the century-old vicissitudes of Longji.

Here, you’ll sense the weight of history and may sample local specialties such as fermented tofu and oil tea, flavors unique to Xingping.
